Summer Camps for Budding Entrepreneurs

Summer is upon us pretty much and if you have a budding Mark Zuckerberg or Martha Stewart…you know, entrepreneurs, there are two fabulous camps happening this summer just for them!

The Los Angeles Urban League is holding the Biz Institute, a four-week summer business camp for kids ages 12 – 18.  It runs from 9 am – 3 pm, 6/25 – 7/20 daily for drumroll please - $300.  Enrollment includes guest speakers, field trips, text books and a briefcase.  Students will learn how to turn their hobbies and ideas into a profitable business.  For an application and more information, email Rhonda Santifer.

If your entrepreneurette shows a fierce fashion sense, Kate’s Bizzy Girls at Santa Monica Place has two sessions, July 9 – 20 and July 23 – August 3. Based on the Kate Kate The Fashion Plate book, girls between the ages of 7 – 14 will be able to create their own product line, run their own company and have their product on display at Santa Monica Place.

Girls 10 and older will meet with women entrepreneurs and fashion executives to answer their questions. There will also be a social media expert to discuss viral marketing via YouTube, twitter and blogs. Cost is $585.
Sounds like a very productive summer that will help your kids eventually become the ones that will say, “You’re hired!”
