If you have a daughter who loves to run or may be interested in running, you have to check out Girls on the Run LA.
It’s an organization dedicated to helping pre-teen girls realize just how incredible they are.
Girls on the Run uses the power of running to prepare girls in 3rd – 8th grades for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
The programs combine training for a non-competitive running event with lessons that inspire them to recognize and honor their individual strengths and talents. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. With a detailed curriculum of games, activities, discussions, and running, girls experience the joy of simply being themselves! The lessons inspire girls to:
- celebrate their bodies,
- honor their voices,
- recognize their gifts, and
- activate their power.
At the end of each season, they celebrate their success by participating in a non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) walk/run. In the end, our goal is for every girl to know and activate her limitless potential and be free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Best part, Peyton List who plays Emma on Disney Channel’s #1 show Jessie, also happens to be a big fan of and an incredible volunteer for Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County!
On Saturday, September 8th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Peyton will be attending avery special GOTRLA registration event. Your daughter will have a chance to meet Peyton, get an autograph, take a photo, and maybe even get the real scoop about Mr. Kipling or Luke.
