Casting Notice for Disney Feature Film
Contract: SAG Theatrical Agreement
Location: Los Angeles and Bakersfield, CA
Film Dates: Mid-September, 2013
Seeking actors able to portray Latino males of Mexican or Central American descent, accents/bilingual speaking ok, for these two roles. Need to be athletic and in running shape, as both are part of a cross-country team. Boys should be sweet but have a slight edge due to the tough life they had as the children of migrant workers.
[Thomas Valles] 16 years old, Hispanic. Thomas is an aloof boy, a farm worker with a cold and almost cynical view of his life. The fastest runner at McFarland High School, he’s also the most confrontational, used to spending hours at the principal’s office after a fight. Pressured to join the team, Thomas wants no part of it, but ultimately yields rather than face suspension from class. The runner with the best chance of becoming a star, Thomas is hell-bent on outrunning Hunter, a white preppie track star with all the advantages in life … Supporting Lead.
[Danny Diaz] 16 years old, Hispanic. The middle brother of the Diaz family, Danny is a husky/overweight boy who joins the track team along with his brothers but he always runs dead last. A mule headed but cheerful and charming kid who is determined to run. He becomes the anchor of the team, and has a surprisingly inspired run during the State finals … Supporting Lead.
This project is based on a true story. It is set in 1987 and stars Kevin Costner.
